This charming downtown park is the site of Irmo’s annual Cherry Blossom Festival and Christmas Tree Lighting and has a gazebo set within its gardens which is perfect for small gatherings.

Friarsgate Park
This Richland County park offers 20 acres of space in which Irmese locals enjoy playing baseball, basketball, football, soccer, and racquetball.
Additionally there are playgrounds, classrooms, a kitchen, and an indoor gymnasium.

Moore Park
This park plays host to the annual Okra Strut Festival and includes an amphitheater, pond, playhouse, multiple playgrounds, trails, picnic shelters, and a huge grassy field.

Palmetto Trail
The Palmetto Trail offers 500 miles of hiking and biking trails across South Carolina.
From Irmo, the 10.8 mile Peak to Prosperity Passage rail-trail traverses piedmont forests and includes an impressive 1,100 foot bridge crossing of the Broad River.

ICRC – Saluda Shoals Park
This riverfront park spans 480 acres and offers countless opportunities for outdoor fun along the Saluda River. Ten miles of hiking trails, boat ramps for canoeing and kayaking (rentals available!), picnic shelters, tennis courts, disc golf, and a splash playground are just some of the fun things available to experience at Saluda Shoals Park.

Rawls Creek Park
Rawls Creek Park offers something for everyone, including a Community Garden for local gardeners, a Dog Park with separate areas for large and small dogs, and an 8,500-square-foot Skate Park with features for all skill levels. Enjoy a relaxing stroll on the quarter-mile walking trail or play basketball on the outdoor court with friends.

Harbison State Forest
With 18 miles of trails spread out over 2,137 acres of forestland, it’s easy to see why people come from far and wide to enjoy this mixed pine and hardwood forest. Stop into the 5,000 square foot educational center and learn about local ecology, rent a gazebo for a private event, or find a picnic site to enjoy pristine nature with a glass of sweet tea. Irmo Cherry Blossom Festival
Blooms of colorful cherry blossoms are a sure sign of the arrival of spring in the Southern region. The annual Cherry Blossom Festival of Irmo honors these beautiful flowering trees.
The celebration takes place in the oh-so-photogenic Irmo Town Park. Planted in 2001, the six Yoshino trees put forth an amazing bloom at their peak. In late March, the jewel-box Irmo Town Park comes alive with the exuberant pale pink blooms. The family-friendly festival features quiet picnicking, blossom-viewing, plein air art, handcrafted artwork, and more.
The event takes place at the Irmo Town Park on March 22, 2025, from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. There is no rain date for this event. Picnics are welcome!
The Cherry Blossom Festival seeks specialized vendors and informational booths/presentations to support the theme of Cherry Blossoms, Japanese culture, food, and art.

SHARPVUE IRMO INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL

Experience the rich diversity of Irmo at the SHARPVUE Irmo International Festival! This vibrant celebration of culture features lively music and dance, a variety of food vendors serving global flavors, a dazzling Parade of Nations, a community art activity (Rangoli), an international car show, henna art, and a fun-filled kid’s zone. With so much to see, taste, and explore, this festival is the perfect way to connect with cultures from around the world.

Juneteenth Celebration
Mark Your Calendars: Juneteenth Celebration in Irmo (June 19, 6 – 9 p.m.)
Join the African American Historical Society of Irmo for their 4th Annual Juneteenth Celebration at Moore Park (7507 Eastview Drive).
Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, is a national holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. It honors the day news of the Emancipation Proclamation finally reached Texas, the last Confederate state to abolish slavery. Juneteenth is a day of immense cultural significance for African Americans. It’s a time to remember the struggles and resilience of their ancestors and celebrate their hard-won freedom. This occasion is a celebration for all Americans to recognize the enduring spirit and triumphs of a community.

Lexington Medical Center Irmo Okra Strut
50 Years of Family Fun!
The Okra Strut Festival, hosted by the Town of Irmo and managed by the Town Council and the Okra Strut Commission, will be held September 26th & 27th, 2025. The festival is a two-day event at Moore Park featuring live bands on both Friday and Saturday evenings and a Saturday morning parade, which is the largest in the entire state of South Carolina. Additionally, arts and crafts vendors, rides and amusements, live music and entertainment, and lots of yummy festival food can be enjoyed throughout the day on Saturday.
Attendance for the celebration averages around 25,000 attendees annually but has seen as many as 60,000 visitors. Money raised by the festival is put back into the community through charitable contributions to local civic and school organizations, for scholarships and improvements of public areas.

National Night Out
The Irmo Police Department Community Foundation (IPDCF) is excited to host the annual National Night Out Event. The 2025 event date will be announced at a later night.
National Night Out (NNO) is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie in an effort to make our neighborhoods safer and a more caring place to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. This wonderful event provides a wonderful opportunity to bring the police and neighbors together under positive circumstances. Irmo’s Tree Lighting
Every December, Irmo Town Park transforms into a festive wonderland. The annual Tree Lighting is a beloved community tradition, where neighbors gather under the twinkling lights to celebrate the holiday season. Local school choirs and bands fill the air with festive melodies, and Mayor Danielson delivers a heartwarming greeting. The highlight of the event is the lighting of the Irmo Tree. As the countdown begins, the crowd eagerly awaits the moment when the tree is illuminated, casting a warm glow over the Town Park.
After the tree lighting, the community is treated to pizza, hot chocolate, and cookies. But that’s not all! A special guest arrives with a sleigh full of cheer – Santa Claus himself! As the fire truck sirens sound, children’s eyes light up with excitement as they rush to greet the jolly old man and share their Christmas wishes. The Irmo Tree Lighting is a truly magical experience that brings joy and holiday spirit to the entire community. The Irmo Tree Lighting will be on December 2nd, 2025!
